The 505 Movement – Mission & Core Structure

Mission Statement

The 505 Movement exists to challenge custody bias and fight for parenting equity. We advocate for parents who are often sidelined by outdated legal biases, such as “mom-first” narratives, parents who are unfairly steamrolled by the financial advantage of the other parent, and priority going to stay-at-home parents. Our mission is simple: kids deserve both parents, equally—and fairness in family court should never be for sale.

We know not every parent is equal. Some do forfeit their right to custody through abuse, neglect, or outright absence. We don’t defend bad parents—we defend good parents being sidelined by bias or by money. The 505 Movement is about equity for families, not excuses for failure.

Core Structure of the 505 Movement

Fundraising Focus

  • Donations go into a Legal Defense & Advocacy Fund.

  • Money is directed toward securing high-caliber legal support for cases where a parent is being unfairly denied equal custody.

Screening Process

  • Step 1: Intake form + background check. (We’re not suiting up predators, addicts, or violent abusers.)

Step 2: Screening & Eligibility Review Applications are evaluated against clear, uniform criteria to ensure fairness and consistency. Reviews are conducted by a panel that may include legal professionals and parent advocates, but decisions are based solely on defined eligibility standards, including:

  1. No substantiated history of abuse, neglect, or domestic violence.

  2. Demonstrated effort to remain actively involved in the child’s life.

  3. Evidence that custody denial appears driven by bias, financial imbalance, or outdated legal precedent.

  4. Willingness to sign and comply with the 505 Parent Ethics Oath.

This process ensures that support decisions are transparent, defensible, and rooted in the mission of equity—not subjective judgment.

  • Step 3: If approved, the 505 Movement provides legal funding/support. If not, the case with the 505 Movement is denied and closed.

Equity Line in the Sand

  • We state upfront: “We fight for fairness, not bad parents. If you’ve proven yourself unfit, we’re not your army.”

  • This keeps the organization clean, legitimate, and defensible when challenged.
